Spicy Foods

Aromatic white wines are the best choice for spicy dishes with some heat. Look for highly perfumed and gently sweet styles of wine like off-dry Riesling, Chenin Blanc, Gewürztraminer, aged Semillon and skin contact styles. Reds are tricky to match with dishes high in chilli spice, however they do go well with spices like cumin, clove, pepper and other savoury spices. Medium bodied spicy reds like a Grenache, Sangiovese, Barbera, Cabernet Franc, Carignan or Carménère have naturally earthy spice and red fruit flavours that will work beautifully.
