Amarone is arguably the richest, densest and most powerful wine in the world, a veritable show stopper and without rival. Romano Dal Forno is known as Veneto’s ‘Grape King’, the vanguard of modern Amarone.Dal Forno’s Valpolicella Superiore is consistently one of the highest quality reds from the north of Italy, and that is true of this vintage in particular. In fact, Antonio Galloni posits that “Dal Forno should really change the name of his… Valpolicella Superiore. This is really an Amarone for all practical intents and purposes, since 2002 made entirely from fruit that has been dried, albeit for less time than that legally required for Amarone."Dal Forno’s Valpolicella Superiore simply offers a chance to own a pseudo-Amarone from the King of Amarone for less than a third of the price! It is hard to express how exceptional this wine is and it should be found in any fine wine lover’s cellar.

Arguably the greatest Valpolicella made to date, this incredible wine has a nose of blackcurrants, dates, prunes, gentle spice and pomegranate. in the mouth it's a fulsome, intense and incredibly powerful drive of deep fruit, brightly lit by well matched acidity, textured with fine tannins and achingly long. Though greatly concentrated, it's beautifully balanced and has an elegance that is staggering. This is drinking beautifully already but will last decades!

Amarone, or Amarone della Valpolicella, is an Italian red blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes that are late harvested and left to dry into raisins. These wines are extremely age worthy and can be very expensive, representing the very best reds made in Italy. Expect density of fruit, backed by good acidity, plenty of body and intense aromas and flavours of cherry liqueur, dried fig, chocolate, cinnamon, mint, plum and crushed gravel. Wonderful wines!
