Domaine Vincent Pinard is located in Bue, at the heart of the Sancerre region. Their way of working at this centuries-old family estate is very traditional. The work philosophy takes a natural, organic approach and respects the terroirs and consequently the environment. The estates 17 hectares are mainly located on the hills of Bue, a famed winegrowing village that boasts limestone and clay-limestone terroirs. They do not use any herbicides, insecticides or anti-rot treatments, etc. Most of the work in the vineyards is done by hand (including harvesting).

Expert review

While light on its feet, the 2020 Sancerre Le Grand Chemarin packs plenty of concentration within its core. This sense of power provides a quinine-like bitterness to the ripe fruit and nettle flavours, which serve to remind you we are in Sauvignon-Central. There’s a long dry and savoury finish with a lees derived pastry character lingering long. Drink 2023-2036.” 95 points.

The Grape

Sauvignon Blanc

A crisp, textural and beautifully expressive white wine that grows in almost every wine growing country across the world. In the hands of a great winemaker, Sauvignon Blanc can rival the very best white wines of the world with its complex aromas and flavours that you won't find in other white varieties. The expressions from Sancerre and Bordeaux set the benchmark the world over, using oak as a medium for body and spice, and in great Sauvignon Blanc you'll find notes of white florals, gentle herbals, creme fraiche, cassis, melon, complex citrus, pear, gooseberry, vanilla, cashew and hints of passionfruit.
