The Mascot is a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon made from distinct hillside vineyards; specifically, the younger vines of BOND, Harlan Estate, and Promontory. It started out as a small project shared among the family, winemaking team, and close friends. Drawing fruit from blocks of recently replanted vineyards, The Mascot shares a glimpse into the evolution of its parent estates: a youthful snapshot of their future

About the wine

Tasting notes

Predominantly Cabernet blended alongside Cabernet Franc, Merlot & Petit Verdot. Dark fruits and minerality flirt with aromas of pecan pie, cocoa, marshmallow, tobacco leaf, roasted fig leaf, graphite and a gentle meatiness. The palate is supremely balanced and finely layered with great depth and concentration. Tightly packed dark fruits, spice and almond paste move with silkiness and serious intensity of fruit flavour, but it's ultimately dry, mineral and textured.

The Grape

Cabernet Sauvignon

A red grape variety that is responsible for the most expensive wines on the planet...some fetching over $100, 000 per bottle!!! It is also the worlds most popular style of wine and produces age worthy and concentrated expressions that show notes of potpourri, cassis, black cherry, blackberry, mulberry, raspberry, leafy herbals, green pepper, baking spices, charcoal, graphite and cedar. Most famous for the first growth wines from the Left Bank in Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon is often used as a primary variety for red blends designed to last decades and is a must have style for any serious collector.
