About the wine

Tasting notes

Lifted, fragrant perfume of blood plums, briar and dewy rose garden, a touch of pepper and roasted beets with a deep and subtle charcuterie impact; the palate is fresh, medium bodied and textured with crushed rock minerality that adds to the myriad of red and blue fruits and exotic spices. It has an elegance akin to a top class Pinot. Finishes long and dry. This wine needs to be decanted if consumed in the next few years and allowed to open-up to reveal its complex character. Give it 5 – 8 hours

Expert review

Opaque bloody ruby with a tight, complex, mineral and deeply perfumed nose of violets, mixed berries, plum, hints of orange zest, game and charcuterie, white pepper, Dutch licorice, mocha, the beginnings of sous-bois and dried herbals. Lots going on! In the mouth it’s effortless and drives with an underlying strength of red, blue and black fruit that have purity of flavour, savouriness and definition without heaviness. Perfectly judged acidity, oak spice and finely knit tannins crescendo towards the midpalate that hold throughout a long to a tail. Harmonious and complete.

Wine Worth Writing About

The Grape

Shiraz or Syrah

Shiraz, or Syrah, is one of the most loved, rich and powerful red wine varieties made famous for its mineral and structured expressions from the Rhône in France and the rich and decadent fruity expressions from the Barossa Valley in Australia. Full bodied, rich in antioxidants and generously fruity, Shiraz sits proudly on the table for those that like their wine big and bold. Think violets, blackberries, plum, chocolate, pepper, black olive, liquorice, rosemary, tobacco and spice...i'm thirsty already!
